a. I find it incredible how the swimmers can swim so close to each other without bumping into each other.
b. The white splash of the waves stand out a lot and remind me of Dover Beach, which also has a poem named after it, that is quite nice!
c. The synchronised swimming reminds me of dancing!
2. The best photo from the slideshow (from no. 1) is photo #7.
a. It is difficult to take pictures in dark lighting with lots of contrast, but the photographer brings out the colours of the (balloons?) without making everything look black and white. (Also, there's very little noise.)
b. The photo displays depth, with the focus on the juggler with the hat, but not the (balloon?) in the front or the ones in the back.
c. The (balloons?) frame the silhouette of the juggler and brings the attention to him.
3. My best work from this semester is the album cover: http://dp4val.blogspot.com/2015/01/album-cover.html. This work was most successful because it best copied/imitated the album cover for The Band. It also uses the horizon of the mountains in the background to frame the subjects. The coloration gave the photo an older, more genuine look. If I had more time for this project, I would try to find a place to shoot where the background would be less prominent, because it draws attention away from the subjects, which is not ideal.

10. The photographer I studied was Josef Sudek. The photographer made many photos of natural lighting, food, and other inanimate objects. He made an impact because he stopped using the blurred effect in his photographs and instead made a point of clarity in his pictures. He also lost an arm and showed that he could still be a good photographer, despite his physical disability. One example of his contribution (of using clarity) would be: this image
11. Dorothea Lange's most popular photo is "Migrant Mother". It was taken at Nipomo, California in 1936. She was hired by the Resettlement Agency (RA).
12. LIFE magazine was founded by Henry Luce. It began publishing in 1936 as a weekly.
13. Robert Capa was a founding member of Magnum Photos. It started in 1947.
14. "Falling Soldier" was taken in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War in Spain, near Córdoba.
